James Pratt is an award winning actor and director in Hollywood. How do writers get their scripts made in Hollywood. There are a couple of options here, most common is having your script shopped around by an agent. If the script requires a bigger budget, then most likely it will be sent to studios and networks, if the film is a smaller budget often private investors or those close to the subject matter may want to invest because they believe in the film and message.
Another common way is to send the script to a known actor or director and ask them to attach themselves to the project and this will draw the attention of the studios to make it.
What writing programs do the top writers in Hollywood write scripts? The final draft is still the main one people use, although there are a lot of options now.
You wrote Malibu Crush – how was that experience being an actor? This was a passion film for me so very fun to be working on, I would describe the writing style very similar to the Farrelly brothers ( Dumb and Dumber, Something About Mary ) whereby the characters are very underpowered and underdogs and there is also a romantic element for the objective of the main character.
Film Career
James’s career in film started when he made a short film for $200 in remote outback Australia that went on to be a finalist in the NBC Universal Shorts Fest. Since then, he has gone to work on Oscar nominated feature films and Emmy Winning television shows. His latest film, Malibu Crush premiered at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood over September 2022 and has scored over 26 festivals wins and secured worldwide release. James also won Best Actor at the 2022 Los Angeles Film Awards.
James sits on numerous advisory films boards including the SP Film Awards in New York, iHollywood Film Festival in Los Angeles and is a founding member at Mogul Productions which includes academy award nominated producers, Cindy Cowan, David Cormican and Piers Tempest and has experience in creating over 225 hours of scripted content and produced more than 95 feature films with more than $425M in box office revenue and one win from 5 Oscar nominations.

Away from acting and directing, James is regarded as one of the most successful real estate auctioneers for luxury homes. He gained international admiration in the United States for setting several of the highest real estate auction prices. In 2018, he signed a deal with reality show heavyweight Charlie Ebersol / Ebersol Lanigan and Theco.com for his show selling celebrity houses within Los Angeles.
